Exhibition in the Library Hall, August 26th – September 24th 2017.

The exhibition Ars Memoria presents new works by artist Helene Nymann. The works revive ancient mnemonics and cosmic speculations developed by Italian astrologer, philosopher, and poet Giordano Bruno in the late 1500s.

The exhibition project Ars Memoria is based on thought processes, imagination, and the power of memory. The Round Tower’s helical architecture creates a memory wheel, where one can wander and place knowledge. The exhibition combines contemporary artistic expression with ancient thoughts and ideas, by operating between past and future encyclopedic systems, body and brain, technology and science. Embodied knowledge, choreography, and image association are intertwined with performative installations and video works that open new transformative levels in the consciousness.
