Manuel Barrueco's HomePage

Manuel Barrueco, born in 1952. Educated at the Esteban Salas Conservatory in his native Santiago de Cuba, later completing his studies at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, MD, where he now teaches.He became the first guitarist to win the coveted Concert Artists Guild Award in 1974 and made his Carnegie Hall debut later that year. Since than Manuel Barrueco has firmly established himself as a leading figure in the guitar world today.His astounding versatility extends from his quietly commanding performances of the works of the old Spanish masters to his own transcriptions of Bach and Mozart, and from his work with Jazz greats Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett to premiers of works by living composers such as Takemitsu. An exclusive recording artist with EMI Classics, Barrueco's best selling recordings have been critically acclaimed worldwide.
