At the
age of 17 the Finnish artist Timo Korhonen was the youngest contestant
ever to win the competition held in Munich, run by the German broadcasting companies.
Since his victory in Munich Korhonen has given numerous recitals, appeared as soloist with
major orchestras and played chamber music. He has a broad repertoire, ranging from
Renaissance to the music of present day and he has worked with a number of composers. Leo
Brouwer and Olli Kortekangas, for example, have dedicated works to him. Timo Korhonen
teaches at the Turku Conservatoire and holds master classes. His numerous discs have won
enthusiastic reception by international critics and audience. Timo
Korhonen gives a concert in the Library Hall, Round Tower (Rundetaarn) Friday 20th
of July at 8.30 p.m. |
