Bornholm, the rocky island in the Baltic, has its own unique pulse. Surrounded by the sky and sea, the rough rocks and cliffs and the finest white sand, time follows its own pace and here you see the world in a clear and uncomplicated perspective. The light is almost divine, whether the sun shines from a deep blue sky or trough steel-grey clouds.
Bornholm attracts creative souls with an artistic vein from far and near. The island's handicraft traditions date back several hundred years. Originally they primarily crafted ceramics, but in the course of time they have adopted other materials like glass, wood, textile and iron.
Today there are more craftsmen per square mile on Bornholm than in any other place in Denmark. The island is filled with small workshops which are open to the public. Here you can watch the craftsmen work at close quarters, have a chat and buy some of their handicrafts.
50 of the island's craftsmen have united in ACAB, Arts & Crafts Association Bornholm. This summer ACAB will put on their first exhibition ever. In a big and varied exhibition some of the best and newest Bornholm handicraft will be on display.
