Fragment
The international artist group Riimfaxe exhibits in the Round Tower 29 May-28 June 2004.

Three steps from paradise

They pass a refrigerator through a roller and fasten it onto a canvas. They build sculptures of peat and plaster, they rummage rubbish dumps and bury books under the dead leaves of the forest floor. There are no limits: everything is usable—everything is worth a try.

They come from different cultures and express themselves in many different ways, yet, they keep together in an artistic fellowship, because 'foreign eyes' are sources of motivation and inspiration.

Their interest in materials knows no limits, and they work with pure forms, giving prominence to craftsmanship and texture as the core of their artistic expression.

Visiting a Riimfaxe exhibition is like stepping into a tranquil landscape of pictures and sculptures standing about as fragments of nature's deepest secrets. At first sight the works may seem smooth and self-contained, but at close quarters you will find hundreds of stories in the many surfaces, forms and colours in them.

Riimfaxe: The artist group Riimfaxe was formed in Svendborg in 1969. It stared off purely as a Funen group, but in the mid 1970s the group formed ties of friendship with Germany which eventually led to a wide international artistic relationship with artists from all over the world. Today, therefore, people from both Denmark, Germany, Norway, Holland and Israel are counted as members of the group. Previously Riimfaxe has held exhibitions in Galerie M in Berlin, GEDOK Galerie in Hamburg and Kurhaus Friedrichskoog in Dittmarschen.
