The round tower is an old tower with many hidden nooks and crannies, so sometimes things are not exactly where you think they would be.
To mark the Round Tower’s 300th anniversary in 1942, a violet commemorative stamp worth 10 øre was issued and printed in well over eight million copies. This was the first but by no means the last time the tower appeared on postal stamps.
Generations of pupils have been told the story of the Danish King and the Russian Tsar that meet at the top of the Round Tower and battle over views of humanity. There is only the slight problem that the King was not in the Round Tower that day.
