FIFTY FIFTY

The Cabinetmakers' Autumn Exhibition (SE) 2008

This year’s exhibition theme highlights SE's main purpose: the fruitful collaboration between furniture designer and cabinetmaker/manufacturer.

Is there anything new to that? Well, not really, but maybe we have been neglecting to notice and utilise each other's best competencies?

What if the two truly met in the MIDDLE, beginning from SCRATCH, kicking off a joint process, dialogue and project aiming toward a common goal: creating new, outstanding, experimental furniture design?

We will be drawing lots to pair up manufacturers and designers randomly among the members of SE.

The pairs are free to choose furniture type, materials etc.

The only binding requirement is that the two must take the collaboration seriously, approach the project with an open mind, willing to cooperate and give it their all.

The concept encourages a lengthy process that will let the pairs get to know each other and tune in on the teamwork.

SE, The Cabinetmakers’ Autumn Exhibition is a private association of designers and furniture manufacturers that serves as an innovation lab for future furniture types and concepts. SE's purpose is to develop and once annually present new and experimental furniture types with a high level of craftsmanship and functional and artistic quality.

The association is under the patronage of HRH Crown Prince Frederik.
